  8. Here is a freeware program that allows you to easily post
  9. your ever-changing dynamic PPP or SLIP Internet address to a
  10. finger account, thereby allowing others to look up your
  11. current Internet address and contact you.
  12.  
  13. Here also includes a finger client to allow you to easily
  14. check the PPP or SLIP address postings of other Here users.
  15.  
  16. Since other users will now be able to locate your current
  17. address, you will be able to use talk servers such as
  18. WinTalk; FTP servers such as WinQV/Net, Serv-U, and WFTPD;
  19. and HTTP servers such as HTTPD and ZB Server.

  21. MINIMUM HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
  22.  
  23. Here is available in two compilations, one for Win16 and one
  24. for Win32.  Both compilations require an IBM compatible PC
  25. with a 386+ microprocessor and Winsock 1.1+.  The Win16
  26. version requires Windows 3.1+ and the Win32 version requires
  27. Windows 95, NT, or 3.1 with Win32s.

  31. The latest version of Here is 1.0 Beta 4, which has the
  32. following changes from the previous version:

  34.   - Introduction of Win32 compilation for Windows 95 and
  35.     NT.
  36.   - Fix for displaying information from finger servers
  37.     that fail to use CR/LF pairs.
  38.   - Fix for FTP servers using multiline replies.
  39.   - Fix to set time outs during autoposts.
  40.   - Removed automatic prompt for missing FTP login
  41.     information on startup.  This allows Here to be used
  42.     simply as a full finger client, even if finger and
  43.     FTP server facilities are not available for posting.
  44.   - Removed some double error messages.

  61. After unzipping the archive, you will have six files:
  62.

  64.      here32.exe
  65.      here.hlp
  66.      here.wri
  67.      here.txt
  68.      file_id.diz

  70. Create a new directory (for example, c:\here) and copy all
  71. of the files into it.  Then add a Here Program Item to one
  72. of your Program Manager groups.

  74. File here16.exe is the Win16 version for Windows 3.1 and
  75. here32.exe is the Win32 compilation for Windows 95 and NT.
  76. You can, of course, delete one of these two files if you
  77. will only be using one of them.

  83. starting Here, just click on the file here.hlp from inside
  84. the Windows File Manager.  You can browse through the help
  85. file sequentially from beginning to end by using the browse
